Just One Wish

Today when I drove to LDS Hospital to be with Jared, I thought about a wonderful friend of mine. She was so excited when she got her first new car. It smelled so good, and was so pretty. Not long after her baby got very sick, and was dying at Primary Children’s Hospital. She was driving on the freeway in her new car. The truck in front of her dropped a bunch of rocks on her new car, causing heavy damage to the hood and front window.

She carefully pulled the car to the side of the freeway. She got out and looked at her beautiful new car, now damaged and broken. She started to laugh, as she thought about how much the car had meant to her. Now as she was watching her baby slowly slip away, preparing to meet his Heavenly Father. She looked at the car realizing it really didn’t have that much value compared to her beautiful baby.

It makes you think, so often we go through life putting our heart and soul in to things at the time seems so important. Cars get older and even the next year there is a better car. We need to not loose sight of what really means the most to us. You can drive the most incredible car, and wear the finest clothes. However it means nothing when compared to a loved one. I know if I had a wish, it would be to see Jared smiling and healthy. Crazy we had my wish for eighteen years, and whole time I was wishing for money!
