I am going home!

Jared’s labs were good Monday, so we got to be admitted to the hospital again.

If the labs are good in this morning, we should get out today.  If all goes well we will have one more over night stay at the hospital. In ten days when we come back to the hospital Jared will get the PEG again. That’s the chemo that gave him the blood clot, and makes him sick for a month. Please keep Jared in your prayers for that one! The doctors explained to Jared that if he got another blood clot it could be fatal. However PEG increases his recovery rate by 10%. Jared agreed to the peg again. As we walked to his hospital room after he was admitted, Jared asked the nurse, “Did you get a pool yet?” Those of you that know Jared know he loves to tease the staff here! When they listen to his lungs, he try’s all different ways of breathing.  The nurses are constantly trying to get Jared to walk. He hates it cause he has to wear the mask, a gown, gloves, and pull around he’s IV pole. Now the nurses come in and negotiate with Jared.

Today Jared wore the small mask, and pulled his IV pole. Someone asked what Jared does all day at the hospital. Let’s see, he begs for nonhospital food, plays computer games, sleeps, and mostly teases staff! Please continue to pray he gets he’s smile back! It’s improving slowly, oh so slowly!

We are now half way through the six months intense chemo. In Three months the port will come off his chest. He’ll be able to go swimming. I think we’ll celebrate!

Well the test was not good enough for Jared to come home! After Jared pled and promised they sent us home with Leucovorin that must be taken at 5 p.m., 11 p.m., 5 a.m., and 11 a.m. Jared also has to go to LDS Hospital at 11 a.m. for another blood test. If it isn’t good enough we’ll be back at LDS Hospital 11 a.m., for another blood test. To me it is so scary! I wanted him to stay in the hospital. Here we are deep in the forest on another path! I’m learning it is much easier to have faith in God, than in Doctors and medication. I’m so grateful we love all the doctors and staff at LDS Hospital.

Belle is holding a hairbrush in her mouth. Yes, a people hair brush! Belle believes all stuffed toys are hers! All balls are hers! All chew toys are hers! All squeaky toys are hers. And all brushes are hers! It doesn’t matter what kind or size! The broom, scrub brushes, and “yes” human hairbrushes. The other day Kristina brought her into my room and said, “keep her in here she is very upset and keeps barking cause I’m brushing my hair, with my hairbrush!” Kristina left her hairbrush on her bed when she went to work. Belle found it, and proudly carried Kristina’s very large hairbrush now stairs. She is so small I don’t know how she did it. I have not done a very good job teaching little Belle to share! We all have too much fun with her. We truly needed this little dog to help us through the forest!
